Mimi Cabell was born in Nanaimo, BC, Canada. She received her BFA in photography from Ryerson University, an MFA in photography from the Rhode Island School of Design, and a second MFA in electronic writing from Brown University. She has shown her work in New York, Providence, Stuttgart, Germany, and Toronto, and presented at conferences in Edinburgh, London, Paris, and at MIT. Recently she received an Academic Commons Grant from the Rhode Island School of Design to complete research that aims to survey,analyze, and evaluate how writing is taught in art and design schools. Her collaborative work, “American Psycho” was published by Traumawien in 2012, recent writing about the piece can be found at jacket2.org, dailydot, mediabistro, and playgroundmag.net, while the printed book will soon be available at the Yvon Lambert Bookshop in Paris. She is currently Assistant Professor in Foundation Studies at the Rhode Island School of Design.
